The Biltong Box

These pictures show a 800mm(h) x 300mm(w) box  

Boxes are made with holes at the top and bottom of the door to allow good air circulation for drying the meat. As an option holes can also be made in the sides or the back of the box. 

 Hooks are made from Stainless Steel Wire.

All parts of the box are removable for easy cleaning

The box is made from 18mm MDF (untreated)

Hinges are sprung to keep the box securly closed

This is the small box, 600mm(h) x 300mm(w)

PREPARING THE MEAT

It couldn’t be more simple

Take a piece of Sliverside

Cut with the grain

Cut to desired size

Cover meat with salt, let it stand for an hour

Dip meat briefly in a bowl of vinegar

Add spices

Hang and wait 3-7 days
